The Linkr mobile app is where you discover hotspots on the map and share your own.
The app is in invitation-only beta. It is not on the App Store or Google Play. To get in, join the waitlist and wait for an invitation. See Requesting access.

What you can do

  • Discover hotspots: browse the map of the New York City dataset
  • Read hotspot details: speed, signal, network type, security, and contributor notes
  • Share your own hotspots: contribute connectivity from the Share tab
  • Manage your hotspots: view, toggle visibility, and remove hotspots you have shared

The four tabs

The app is organized into four tabs:
  • Map: the connectivity map, showing hotspots in the dataset
  • Share: create and share a hotspot
  • Hotspots: the hotspots you have shared
  • Profile: your details and settings
Each is covered in the following pages.

What the beta does not do yet

To set expectations for the current build:
  • Hotspots you create are stored on your device, not on a server
  • There is no cross-device sync and no web account
  • Hotspots are not monitored for uptime in the background
  • The app does not automatically join Wi-Fi networks for you
These are on the roadmap. See Product status for the current picture.
