# Linkr mobile app

> The invitation-only app for discovering and sharing hotspots.

The Linkr mobile app is where you discover hotspots on the map and share your own.

<Info>
  The app is in **invitation-only beta**. It is not on the App Store or Google Play. To
  get in, [join the waitlist](https://linkrmap.com) and wait for an invitation. See
  [Requesting access](/docs/getting-started/create-account).
</Info>

## What you can do

* **Discover hotspots**: browse the map of the New York City dataset
* **Read hotspot details**: speed, signal, network type, security, and contributor notes
* **Share your own hotspots**: contribute connectivity from the Share tab
* **Manage your hotspots**: view, toggle visibility, and remove hotspots you have shared

## The four tabs

The app is organized into four tabs:

* **Map**: the connectivity map, showing hotspots in the dataset
* **Share**: create and share a hotspot
* **Hotspots**: the hotspots you have shared
* **Profile**: your details and settings

Each is covered in the following pages.

## What the beta does not do yet

To set expectations for the current build:

* Hotspots you create are stored **on your device**, not on a server
* There is no cross-device sync and no web account
* Hotspots are not monitored for uptime in the background
* The app does not automatically join Wi-Fi networks for you

These are on the roadmap. See [Product status](/docs/introduction/status) for the current
picture.
