# Creating hotspots

> How to share connectivity from the Share tab.

The **Share** tab lets you contribute a hotspot in a few taps.

<Info>
  The app is invitation-only beta. Hotspots you create are stored on your device in the
  current build.
</Info>

## Sharing a hotspot

Open the **Share** tab and:

1. **Name your hotspot** — this is how it appears in your list (e.g. "Home Office")
2. **Set the location** — toggle **use current location**, or set it manually
3. **Choose a network type**:
   * **Wi-Fi**
   * **Mobile data**
   * **Router**
4. **Set visibility**:
   * **Publicly available** — on or off
   * **International access** — on or off
5. Tap **Share Hotspot**

Your hotspot is saved and appears under the **Hotspots** tab.

## Network types

* **Wi-Fi**: a wireless network, such as a home or business access point
* **Mobile data**: your phone sharing its cellular connection
* **Router**: a dedicated router or access point you control

Choose the type that matches what you are sharing.

## Visibility

The current app has two visibility controls:

* **Publicly available**: whether the hotspot is shared publicly
* **International access**: whether to allow access from outside the local area

<Note>
  Finer-grained access — such as approving individual users — is on the roadmap. Today the
  controls are the two toggles above.
</Note>

## After sharing

Once you share a hotspot, it appears in your **Hotspots** tab, where you can toggle its
visibility or remove it. See [Managing your hotspots](/docs/mobile-app/managing-hotspots).

<Note>
  Hotspots you create in the beta are stored on your device and are not yet published to
  the public map or API. See [Product status](/docs/introduction/status).
