# Requesting access

> How to get into the invitation-only Linkr beta.

The public map and API are open to everyone with no account. The **Linkr app** — where
you create and share hotspots — is in invitation-only beta.

  There is no open sign-up today. Access to the app is granted from the waitlist, by
  invitation. The app is not on the App Store or Google Play.
</Info>

## Using Linkr without an account

You do not need anything to use the public preview:

* Browse the map at [linkrmap.com/demo](https://linkrmap.com/demo)
* Query the [public API](/docs/api-reference/overview) with a demo key

Both cover the 78-hotspot New York City dataset. No login, no email required.

## Requesting app access

    Go to [linkrmap.com](https://linkrmap.com) and enter your email address.

  <Step title="Wait for an invitation">
    Invitations are sent from the waitlist in batches. There is no paid tier or shortcut
    to skip the line.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Install the beta">
    Your invitation email includes everything you need to install the current beta build
    and get started.
  </Step>

## What you need

* An email address to join the waitlist

That is it. Linkr does not require phone verification, identity documents, or payment
information.
